Abstract
In Dhyani's perspective the modern society has given much opportunity for the urban women to develop their social ambitions without putting aside their natural role of being women with own space to express themselves. The presence of women in an urban culture has enriched the discourses on urban culture. Dhyani herself an urban woman, the artist tries to newly define the presence of urban women with the associated complexities which they face in attaining harmonious life that should lead to a positive moral and psychological state.
This is the issue that becomes an inspiration and a main goal in the creation of metal artworks as a contemporary art of jewelry presented in a three dimensional visual form. Charged with symbolism emanating from ideas in the reality of life of an urban woman, in her home, at work and in the community where in her activities she maintains her positive existence to achieve a self harmony. The basic thinking is that jewelry may promote a strong relation between the object and its owner in a process that utilizes a language of expressions which describes the personal problems being experienced by the urban women. The creative processes source from the contemporary visual arts which refers to the strength of the local genius allowing a positive personification of the urban culture’s artifacts which represent the cultural movement of its time.
